bath toys

This may or may not be in my bathroom...

I'd have to say that the very best thing about having a little place of my own... I get to be really childish and girly. Because, let's face it- I still have the heart of a six year-old girl; I love cute toys, dolls, stuffed animals, stationary, pastel pajamas and lacy little dresses. So more or less, my studio is probably going to end up looking like a toddler's room! But heeeeeey, it makes me happy. I think of it like this- I want my room to be magical. And what's more magical than childhood innocence? This is my vision, imagine it with me: tons of fabric on the ceiling, like one big, magical "fort". hundreds of string lights, like a carnival. little dangling bits and bobs- glitter stars, feathers, paper cranes. pastel colored vintage furniture. cute stuffed animals and dolls adorning my shelves. tea cups. candles. sweets...do you see it? It's going to be so magical. I've never really had this level of creative freedom, so I'm very excited to see what I can create.

Anywaaaaay, so this is a Calico Critter set (or originally known as Sylvanian Families) and I am way too obsessed with it. Many people think that these originated in England, because they are VERY popular over there. However, they were actually created in Japan! Which obviously explains why I'm cuckoo over them. I first came across these critters many years ago, but recently rediscovered them at a local toy store and just fell in love. Although, it was like... "I loveeeeee this!!! But... what would I do with it?!" *ponders* *tries to think of reasons* *cries internally upon realization that it's not practical for a 24 year-old woman to buy $100 in small animal toys created for toddlers*

But now, I have my own place... and that means I can do whatever I please! MUAHAHAHAHA. I actually have a few more scattered throughout my room, but I just loved this one for the bathroom :P

  4. While your studio idea sounds magical, unfortunately it also sounds like a fire hazard. Imagine if one of the candles set the fabric hanging from the ceiling on fire and surrounded you with flames. Not to sound discouraging, just saying. :p

    1. LOLOLOLOL!! The ceilings are really high, so the fabric will be nowhere near the candles. No worries!! haha :P

      Delete
    2. You should be 100% fine so long as you always remember to make sure that the candles are completely out and have no chance of lighting anything on fire. But you're an adult and know how to burn candles by now so no worries.

I am just like you about the whole fashion school and wanting to design and show your emotions and talents through objects in the world!! and when you say youre crazy that means youre actually starting to live your dream, not the dream that everyone else expects you to live, but your own dream, one that youll be happy with.
I know you have big things still coming your way youll find a way to control everything, to keep up with everything and you will be successful!! From your biggest fan, have fun chasing your dream!!

  14. I feel so jelly right now! How you envision your apartment is really close to how I want my dream room to be! Maybe when I'm older and have a place of my own I will be able to have a place that directly interprets who I am! You are such an inspiration to me! ^-^ (Btw I am in love with your blog! Every time I have free time in school I read and re-read your posts)

  15. Wow, now I get a amazing picture in my head if how it will look. And I bet you will make it look twice as good, as I imagine. :D But is Buki and Pip staying with Anthony or with you

  16. I can totally picture it! You should do a video of it when you get it all up and stuff. I adore this stuff too and the tiny little furniture and things. I was at Hobby Lobby and they had those big victorian play houses with all kinds of cute things to put in them...which I went googoo over! haha I also wanted to tell you about this movie I think you would enjoy if you haven't already seen it. Its called Miss Potter {Has Ewan Mcgregor and Renee Zellwege, who were also in a 1960s themed movie called Down With Love which I super recommend as well!} Miss Potter is about Beatrix Potter's life, who is the author/illustrator of "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" books which brings me back to my childhood. I think it goes along with the whole cute, innocent factor you are talking about and its a really good story set in London in the 1900s. I watched it with my mom and we both really loved it so if you watch it I hope you like it as well. :) Thanks for sharing about the Calico Critters!

  19. I have some of those calico critters and i bought a little house and i got a little cat family and one day when i was playing with them (When i was younger of course) I laid down the "dad cat" on its stomach on the side and like 5 minutes later i saw it was gone. i looked everywhere for it until i saw my cat with with the cat in his mouth. my cat Ralphie literally picked up the "dad cat" by its tail and just started walking around the house with it xD it was so funny i got it out of his mouth and when i sat it down again Ralphie tried getting it again! Now that i think about it my cat has a fetish of toy cats... lmao! i had to share that little story xD if you read this kalel thank you for reading itand im sorry for wasting 3 minutes of your time lol xD

  20. when do we get a tour of the new place??

    ReplyDelete
  21. So cute! I love the idea of having a couple of them spread throughout your house, especially in the bathroom. I may have to indulge and buy some too because I always wanted these as a kid. I especially loved the bunny family.

  22. More pictures of your calico critter sets!!! They are so adorable and make me happy :) :)

  23. Oh. My. Gosh. That. Is. Too. Fucking. Adorable.

  24. Could I be any more jealous? Probably not! >_< Whenever I see photos of your clothing and your home I just want to reach into the screen an take it for myself. They always look so amazing. I also share your obsession for all the cuteness of Sylvanian Families. I go all glossy eyed when I see them in stores and my boyfriend has to pull me away before I fill a trolley and try pay for them with song and dance.
It makes me happy to see I'm not the only six year old trapped in an adults body and I look forward to seeing more your amazing house photos. =^w^=

  26. KALEL! That. Is. So. Unbelievably KEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTEEE! And what a vision. And that shower, and that cute mousey thing...ugh, that is all kinds of adorable!!! You have such a precious, intricate way about you when it comes to decorating. <3 My biggest decorating achievement is, um, I nailed many cheap things to my wall. Yeah. :p Mmmm, if you have a lot of stuff, shelves are a lifesaver! I think you're too organized to have that much stuff though. :p

  27. So kawaii, Kalel!! The word picture you painted, describing your "whimsical wonderland" sounds absolutely enchanting! I can only hope (or rather BEG) that you will give us a little tour of your perfect fairy tale when you add more adorable features!

  36. Girl these blog post always put a smile on my face! They are all charming, quirky, and to me they are all worded so well that it's like I can actually imagine you reading them out loud. Your tone and diction in your writing is something to be admired, your personality really jumps through the screen :D. And I think it's perfectly normal to splurge on cute trinkets such as those adorable toys. I mean just look how precious those things are, they just can make anyone's heart melt. I hope your evening is going swimmingly, and have a blessed day <3

  41. Aw, are these the ones that you were going crazy over when shopping for Anthony's niece? They are so adorable, and I can definitely see why you loved them so much. Can I just say that I love your love of all things cute? When I see a 24 year old woman embracing cute and lovely little things, it makes me feel less weird about doing the same at almost 19. It's totally not weird to be obsessed with your cat and kids' toys. We are cool dammit! Lol. Much love from Canada.

  42. I love The Sylvanian Families :D I have a few scattered at my attic, so it's not used for anything, if you can write your P.O box on your and Anthony's Youtube channel or any other address I gladly send them, you have more use for it them than I have :)) I can remember I bought my first Sylvanian when I went in 7th grade :p And still haven't grown from my childish soul ;D

Me being 15 and a sophomore in high school, I'm always trying to hide that girlfriend side of me the lovs these things. Although, you can ask anybody who knows me well, whenever we walk past a baby section in a store, I go crazy. Especially over the baby shoes. I love them and I think they're absolutely adorable! 61. Hey Kalel! Can you maybe please give us the plotline for your book? Or is it like one of those "believe in yourself" kind of books? Tell us please!!! (if you can obviously, I'm not forcing you)

    ReplyDelete
  62. You sound so happy in this post ;) And I can't stand waiting for pictures of finished apartment. According to you previous post, I can say that I completely understand the situation. I'm with my boyfriend for two years. He lived in Sweden at the beginning but he moved there without graduating high school and at the end of the day it came out he couldn't do university there because he would have too few points. After one year he moved to my place, we live together with my parents what is really great, but of course sometimes we'd like to have that independence. He's finishing his high school (he's 20), so am I (18 ;P), I'm going to study medicine, he want's to do something with IT. Half year ago we engaged and believe me, I couldn't be more happy. But as you said, living with other person 24hours 7 days a week can be hard - I have less time for myself now and I think that if only you had possibility to have rest, you made great choice - it's not the end of the world, it's important to start missing someone and fall in love once again ;D Well, in our case, the fact we both record on youtube helps a little, we share ideas but in the end of the day we do everything separately. I wish you good luck and making only good decisions, soo much love for you from Poland ;*

Thank you (I cant wait for your wedding, and hear all about it) (Gemma, Australia, Grade 10)

Make sure to post a video when its all done ;) I am sure your home will be how you want it and will look magical (as if you're in a fairytale). You are so inspirational and my idol. I am so happy for you. It must be so fun to redecorate, take your time with your break from WULAS. Your life is yours, not your fans so i'm happy for you. I will make my home perfect when I get one (Don't worry, I wont copy!) You are such a lovely and beautiful person and you deserve all the things you have eg. Redecorating (which should be fun), dippin' dots. Remember to give everything your all (110%) and keep going foward, no matter how hard it is and don't give up and turn your dreams into plans and your plans into a reality. Hope you have fun ^_^
